The culture potential and management problems of freshwater prawns (Macrobrachium americanum and Macrobrachium tenellum) in their native areas: the case for Mexico

Macrobrachium tenellum and M. americanum are common freshwater prawns from the Americas' tropical subtropical Pacific continental side. They have different biological attributes currently threatened by human impact on their ecosystems. Both species provide quality products for consumption intensively exploited without proper management. This study analyzes, discusses, compares available information both current status as a live resource.
